Tunnel of Light

Tunnel of Light

On Friday, our day off from skiing, we headed to Kiyotsu Gorge. We saw lots of gorgeous thick snow on the way. Apparently this is one of the snowiest places in the world!

At Kiyotsu Gorge, there's a 750m-long pedestrian tunnel called the Tunnel of Light, built especially for people to view the gorge. After visitor numbers dwindled 7+ years ago, some cool art features were added to the tunnel to attract more tourists. The most famous one is the water mirror at the end of the tunnel... see photos below!

There was a toilet inside this central feature!

On the drive back to our accommodation, we had to wait for a snow plough to back up so we could get through...

And this was the street leading to the one our accommodation was on. Note the staircase on the left!!
