Tallinn City Wall

Tallinn City Wall
Tallinn city wall. 😍

Sigh. Tallinn... 😍😍😍

I MAY have visited more picturesque places in the past, but at the moment I'm having trouble remembering them! Beautiful Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is absolutely breathtaking. I could rave for paragraphs but will let the photos do most of the work for me!

Tallinn is home to a wonderfully preserved medieval defensive wall that surrounds its Old Town and is interspersed with 26 towers. On Tuesday, our first full day in Estonia, we climbed Hellemann Tower, which is only a short walk from our accommodation, and explored a 200m stretch of the old city wall dating back to the 1400s...

Tower entrance.
Looking down at the spiral staircase we'd just climbed inside Helleman Tower.
Tower toilet! Whatever goes through that hole will hit the ground far below.
Steep staircase leading to the top of the tower.
View along the wall from up in the tower.
The walkway along the top of the wall.
Inside Munkedetagune Tower.
Another nerve-wracking staircase!
This was my view when I reached the top of one of the staircases. 😁
Tallinn skyline view.
We liked the courtyard between these two buildings.
The gap between the boards, combined with the sometimes sizeable gap between the boards and the surface below, made one walk with care...
... for good reason!
More views from the wall.

This place is amazing!! 😍 It's right out of a fairytale. The weather is also very pleasant (12-22°C), and as it's past the peak summer season it's not crowded but not deserted either. We're loving Tallinn!
