On Saturday, after checking out of our apartment and stowing our luggage in the car, we explored the Saturday markets in the medieval centre of Sarlat-la-Canéda. These markets draw people from all over the region; we were very glad we didn't have to look for a parking spot given how many drivers were stalking us in hope of getting ours!
Looking down at the market from our apartment window. 😍Luggage in car. Off to market we go...Paella! We later wished we had bought some of this, as we didn't see any other ready-made meals at the markets. Some kind of salami-type sausages. We met a graphic novel illustrator, Philippe Bigotto! We purchased the final English copy of 'The Secret of the Forest of Lascaux'. It's the amazing true story of four teenage boys who, in 1940, discovered a nearby, now-famous prehistoric cave filled with incredibly well-preserved cave drawings.Philippe signed the book and drew this picture for us!He also perused F's drawing notebook. 😊Lunch was some cake slices from a group of teens raising money for a humanitarian organisation......and these delicious biscuits, though the boys weren't fans!Cheese! When the vendors started packing up, they were very ambitious about which streets they could drive down......like so! 😅
Then it was off on our 4+ hour drive (one of the longest drives of our trip, as we had a pretty strict 3-hour-max-driving rule during our planning process!) to Carcassonne.
