More Oodi Library pics
Helsinki Central Library Oodi entrance.

After Kauppatori on Sunday afternoon, we went back to the Helsinki Central Library Oodi. Not much is open in Helsinki on Sundays, but the library is! And we wanted to check out Level 2 and the secret room we'd missed on Level 3...

I think this is the library's best angle. 🙂
I had a go at sketching the library while the others played chess. I'm definitely no artist, which is why I usually stick to words, but I'll share my attempt anyway!

Robot librarian!

Here are some pics from the Urban Workshop on Level 2. There were SO many people at the library!! It's an incredibly well-utilised space... truly impressive. We saw two guys playing guitar in a soundproof room, a group of friends enjoying board games and cake, a young family video gaming, and lots of people working or studying.

3D printers.
UV printer (workshop area behind).
Large format printers.
Vinyl cutter.
Sewing tables.
Console gaming rooms.
Musical instruments you can borrow for use in the recording studios.
The cool spiral staircase, with a view through to a tiered seating/ studying/ hangout area.

And here are some more pics from Level 3, at one end of which is the children's area...

We spent a few hours at the library! And this time we found some English language graphic novels. 👌🏻
This is looking down at the no-shoes fairytale rug area. This photo was taken at 7pm, when most of the families had gone!
About the rug. If this is what it originally looked like, it's very faded now!
The secret room is under my feet in the second last photo. The door to it was open and this is the best photo I got, due to it being constantly filled with kids!
This was another room leading off the children's area. The white door leads into the secret room, and a door just out of shot on the left leads to the fairytale rug area.
The shelf lighting looked cool as darkness approached.
Found the board game shelves!
We went out onto the balcony this time too.

What a library!!! We LOVED it!
