Hakaniemi Kauppahalli (Hakaniemi Market Hall)

Hakaniemi Kauppahalli (Hakaniemi Market Hall)
Food on display at Hakaniemi Kauppahalli (Hakaniemi Kauppahalli), Helsinki.

After we visited Vanha Kauppahalli (Old Market Hall) on Monday morning, we headed to Hakaniemi Kauppahalli (Hakaniemi Market Hall). This was a recommendation from a writer friend who lived in Finland for a year.

Hakaniemi Kauppahalli was in a newer building and the ground floor stalls looked more modern, but they still had the old-style wooden stalls on the upper level. I think the food displays were even more spectacular at this hall!

Warning: DO NOT SCROLL DOWN WHEN HUNGRY.

Look at these teeny tiny chocolate blocks!
J found more lollies to buy. ๐Ÿ˜‚
Puolukka = lingonberries.
Something (!) on rye bread.
Something else on rye bread! ๐Ÿ˜†
Lots of fish...
Salmon! ๐Ÿ˜
Fish on rye bread.
Lunch!
B and I shared the salmon soup with rye bread...
... and the boys shared lasagna.
I found figs at the fruit and veg stall! These were a childhood favourite as my grandparents had fig trees. I ate all four myself as the others weren't keen on them. They were in the half-price basket and cost about $1.50 AUD each (after the discount).
Old-style wooden stalls on the upper level of Hakaniemi Kauppahalli. Most of the vendors up here sold souvenirs.
I liked these flowers near the tram stop in Hakaniemi.

Then it was back to our hostel to collect our bags and head off to the ferry terminal for our 2-hour ride to Estonia!
