Grouse Mountain

Grouse Mountain

Between Christmas and New Year, after B recovered from his bout of norovirus, we headed up to Grouse Mountain for an afternoon. This was one of the group plans we'd had to miss out on earlier that week while the boys were under the weather, but luckily the mountain staff had put a note on our tickets so we could use them belatedly (big thanks to Janelle for spending two hours on hold to sort that out for us!).

Btw, most of the snow clothes we're wearing in these pics are ones we've acquired since getting to Canada, via shopping at op shops and Value Village and on Facebook Marketplace. We have helmets too. We now have a checked bag for the first time on this trip so we can transport this gear to Japan (where we plan to ski/snowboard and will save money by not having to rent snow clothes!).

Inside the big red gondola that can hold up to 99 people!

We had a snowball fight (no pics; too busy throwing snowballs!)...

Watched people skating on the slushy ice rink...

Rented sleds and went sledding on a wild slope where people kept getting injured and/or crashing through the rope fence barricade...

Fixing the barricade (again).

Saw a reindeer called Vixen...

And did the "light walk" at dusk...

It was a fun afternoon, and the boys really enjoyed their first introduction to Canadian snow!
