Goodbye Helsinki (for now)

Goodbye Helsinki (for now)
Helsinki disappearing from view.

On Monday, after powering through a few more Helsinki activities, we headed out to West Terminal 2 for the 2-hour boat ride to Tallinn, Estonia. Ekero is one of at least three major ferry operators doing this route (along with Viking (see my walk around post) and Silja (you can see one of their ferries in the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress post)).

Our ferry — MS Finlandia.

These are quite large ferries. Similar to a small cruise ship, or for our BC readers, similar to the larger BC ferries. Because they cross international waters, it also has a small supermarket heavily weighted to perfume and alcohol (apparently it's not uncommon for Helsinki-ites to do a weekend ferry run to Tallinn for cheap alcohol).

Other than cutting it very close getting on the ferry (boarding closed as we boarded due to our slight misunderstanding of "be there 30 minutes before boarding"), our trip was pretty uneventful.

Settling in for the ride.
We saw another ferry coming back on the way.

So... bye for now Helsinki... see you (for a few hours) on Thursday!
