Arrival in Switzerland

As our five wonderful nights in Switzerland with our friends Donna and Matthias and their children come to an end, it's time to catch up on some blog posts! Here are a few snaps taken during our drive from Saint-Jean-de-Sixt (France) to Butzberg (Switzerland) on Friday...

Tractors were a frequent sight on the roads in rural France, and they are here in rural Switzerland too.

I noticed lots of the buildings around here have this semicircle shape under their roofline. Donna said it's unique to the Bern area.

Upon our arrival at Donna and Matthias's home, the boys promptly donned some spare rollerblades (despite never having rollerbladed before) and joined the neighbourhood kids for some slightly hair-raising road-play. The kids would shout "Achtung! Auto!" (Warning! Car!) whenever a car or delivery truck approached (which was surprisingly often for a dead-end street).

Oh dear, man down...
...but he was soon back up again. The other kids were having downhill sitting-on-skateboard races around the blind corner in the background!

Thus began five lovely days with Donna and Matthias and their kids!
