Arashiyama Bamboo Forest

After visiting the Arashiyama Monkey Park on Monday, we crossed the river, had lunch in the touristy part of town and then walked through the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, a 400m-long grove of very tall bamboo.

We enquired about the price of a rickshaw ride. We would have needed two, which would have cost us $100 AUD for 12 minutes. We decided we were happy walking!

B and I shared this delicious glazed sweet potato.
We also had tempura crab sticks, and I tried a tempura lotus root (it was unexpectedly crunchy!).

We walked back to the train station via the river, passing various earthworks projects en route...
